Diploma in Environmental Engineering (HNC Equivalent), qualifying at Polytechnic of the South Bank, Wandsworth with six weekly block release course as part of a four year apprenticeship with Haden Young Ltd, Euston Road, London NW1.

Chartered Incorporated Engineer.
Trained and qualified with Haden Young Ltd at Polytechnic of the South Bank to obtain Diploma in Environmental Engineering.
Continued employment with Haden Young as assistant Mechanical Services Design Engineer working within a design team to prepare design scheme drawings and specifications.
Gained valuable 18 month site experience during refurbishment of Department of Employment offices, Victoria undertaking supervision of ventilation ductwork Contract.
Prepared design schemes and design concept drawings for numerous office buildings for speculative developers including Commercial Union Properties, Land Securities, Prudential Insurance.
Typically, such projects would include air conditioning by variable volume air conditioning systems, high and low level four pipe fan coil air conditioning units, damper controlled induction units and high velocity terminal units.
Other services would be provided and include heating, toilet ventilation, general ventilation, domestic hot water generation, cold water services and fire protection services.
Later, headed the full design team during the refurbishment of the Carlton Hyatt Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge with responsibility for the design and oversee of the Mechanical Services. Being a fast track programme the design team was site based and fed the construction team with design information. Responsible also for the production of fully coordinated working drawings for the M & E Services.
Following the completion of this project, left Haden Young to gain experience in a Consultancy Practice.
Joined FHP Partnership (formerly Ford, Higgins, Pole Partnership) as Senior Mechanical Services Design Engineer and provided immediate input to a complex project in St. James's Street. Redesigned the Mechanical Services to achieve cost requirements and tight programme deadlines. Supervised Contractors to contact completion.
Headed design team for the new construction of 300,000 ft2 office development on site of Houndsditch warehouse.
Services included full air conditioning by variable volume moduline units mounted in ceiling void, perimeter weather compensated heating, general ventilation, domestic hot and cold water services.
All building services were controlled by Building Management System and total M & E Services estimated at £10 million.
Became Associate Partner of FHP Partnership of consulting engineers.
Joined Archer Associates as Senior Design Engineer and became responsible for the design and preparation of all design schemes and tender drawings. Undertook supervision of contract procedures to completion including final account.
Design projects were predominantly public sector works in sheltered housing, theatres & leisure centres.
Became responsible for the day to day operation of office and was promoted to Associate Partner.
In 1992, formed Hollis Associates to provide a Building Services Consultancy service to Architects, District Councils and private individuals, comprising a full range of Building Services, from air conditioning to fire protection.
Joined BLR Associates as Associate 1993 and became a director of BLR Associates Ltd in 2002.
